How to Clean Your Body From the Inside Out

By Genevieve Cunningham

If you've ever decluttered your home or car, then you know how good it feels to be clean and clutter-free. It's soothing. It's calming. It's something we often take for granted. But this sensation, though wonderful when it pertains to our personal space, is even better when it pertains to our bodies and health. A clean body feels light and healthy. But how do we create this feeling within ourselves? If you're ready to feel clean and healthy, take a look at these tips for cleaning your body from the inside out and feeling your best starting today.

Water, Water, Water

Water is one of the keys to good health. Unfortunately, most of us don't drink enough H2O. When we drink more water, it helps the function of our kidneys, liver, and digestion. And when these things are working properly, it helps to clear waste and toxins from the body. If you're not drinking water, it's time to start right now. And one cup per day just isn't enough! Cut out soda and flavored tea, and replace it with plain old water. It might take some time to work up to eight glasses, but get started today if you really want better health.

Dark Leafy Greens

Dark leafy greens are so good for your body. They're full of protein and various vitamins, and they're excellent for helping you meet your nutritional needs without bursting the calorie bank. But they also serve as roughage in the body. What's roughage? It's food that fills the stomach, keeps you feeling full, and then gently scrapes the intestinal tract as it moves through. This means digestion will likely improve, and you'll feel lighter after consumption. To add dark leafy greens, throw some kale and baby spinach into your salad, or find a delicious smoothie recipe and enjoy.

Fasting

Fasting can be tough, but recent research suggests it's worth it. Fasting allows your stomach and intestines to remain empty for a while. If there is anything in your system, it has the chance to move along before you fill it with more. If you're not used to fasting, don't go overboard and fast for days at a time. Try a simple 12 hours -- such as overnight -- without consuming food. You may be surprised at how much better an occasional fast makes you feel. Before you take on this challenge, make sure to talk to your doctor, as not everyone's health is suited for fasting.

Cleaning your body is a good idea. It helps you feel better overall. It can help you lose weight. It can clear the mind and restore focus. Use these tips to clear your body, and you'll be feeling stronger and healthier in no time at all.
